NASTYJOE stands out with melodies that unmistakably echo the ’90s. As outsiders on the French rock scene, the band delivers electrifying performances with rare sincerity.
Combining tension and sonic power, harmonious verses and wild choruses, their music—somewhere between indie rock and post-punk—evokes bands like Fontaines D.C., The Cure, Blur, and Shame.
Following a debut EP and over a hundred shows across France, Spain and Austria, NASTYJOE returned to the studio with new material for a highly anticipated first album.
The light is black. It recalls the glow that illuminated the years of British post-punk—a movement that embraces an art of tension and a devotion to melody, marked by a realistic and sincere gravity. Inspired by its doubts and neuroses, the Bordeaux-based band’s performances turn torment into ballads and reduce hopes to cosmic chaos.
NASTYJOE transforms what we refuse to see into poetry, revealing in negative who we truly are. An anti-personal development for a dark communion.

When the outsiders take center stage.
Somewhere between indie and post-punk, NASTYJOE channels bands like The Cure, Blur, and Fontaines D.C. A universe with a strong ’90s flavor that fuels intense, no-frills live shows that go straight to the point. After a first EP and around a hundred concerts across France, as well as selections for the iNOUïS du Printemps de Bourges and the Prix Chorus, NASTYJOE followed up with new material for their debut album, The House, recorded and mixed by Baptiste Leroy (Structures, Johnny Jane…).
The House acts as a catalyst: it brings memories back to the surface, reveals what we keep hidden, confronts our ghosts, and questions what remains of us when all reference points collapse. Conceived as a mental house, NASTYJOE’s debut album explores each room as a fragment of the self, navigating between memory, identity, and inner chaos.
Post-punk in its energy and introspective in its writing, it transforms fragility into strength. As the tracks unfold, reality bends toward the absurd and the surreal; emotions take shape, and the walls resonate with memories, violence, and shifting identities.
It’s an invitation to step inside, to confront, and to rebuild.
It’s a story about growing up, facing oneself, embracing imperfection, and finding one’s place in a world in motion.
