NASTYJOE stands out with melodies that unmistakably echo the ’90s. As outsiders on the French rock scene, the band delivers electrifying performances with rare sincerity.
Combining tension and sonic power, harmonious verses and wild choruses, their music—somewhere between indie rock and post-punk—evokes bands like Fontaines D.C., The Cure, Blur, and Shame.
Following a debut EP and over a hundred shows across France, NASTYJOE returned to the studio with new material for a highly anticipated first album.
The light is black. It recalls the glow that illuminated the years of British post-punk—a movement that embraces an art of tension and a devotion to melody, marked by a realistic and sincere gravity. Inspired by its doubts and neuroses, the Bordeaux-based band’s performances turn torment into ballads and reduce hopes to cosmic chaos.
NASTYJOE transforms what we refuse to see into poetry, revealing in negative who we truly are. An anti-personal development for a dark communion.

A rock band to watch in 2026, NASTYJOE first won us over with their hypnotic debut single Strange Place, followed by the mesmerizing Worried For You and its stunning textures. The band now announces their debut album, set for January 2026, and unveils a new track: Wire.
Wire delves into inner struggles and the longing for escape. The narrator finds themselves in a state of despair, wandering through a city that mirrors their numbness and solitude. The lyrical repetitions emphasize a cycle of dependence and uncertainty, where running away and giving up seem like the only options.
The song invites listeners to feel the depth of emotion and the anxiety that can accompany any personal journey.
Wire was recorded and mixed by Baptiste Leroy (Structures, Johnny Jane…) and mastered by Nils Borowski.
